Colombia pt 2 // Medellin

Going into my second week in Colombia staying in the city of Medellin, I didn't really know what to expect. I mean, my first few days in Cali had been so amazing, but everyone kept telling me, 'oh wait til you see Medellin...' Well, they were absolutely right. Medellin is a whole different world. This city is massive. It's busy, it's colorful, it's lively, it's beautiful. I honestly felt like I was walking the streets of New York or Atlanta, but just with a little different flavor- there was a breathtaking mountain view in every direction. I cannot put my last few days in Medellin into words… the city just speaks for itself.

Colombia pt 1 // Cali

If you asked me to describe my opinion of the most ideal trip ever, I would probably give you a very detailed summary of my two weeks in Colombia, South America. This adventure was the perfect mixture of relaxation, exploration, and culturation(?) I mean, it was everything I could have asked for and more. We danced, we shopped, we ate (too much), we drank, we explored, and I know that I for one learned so much. I love being fully immersed into a different culture, and that is exactly what I experienced in Colombia. I practiced my Spanish, I tried foods that I had never even heard of (talk about some incredible fruit), and I experienced first-hand some of God's most beautiful creation through indescribable views of mountains and sunsets.

Tequila Sunrise

& so summer begins...

MATE the label tank top here or here // Free People cardigan - similar & similar // Urban Outfitters shorts - similar // Birkenstocks here

I always look forward to a summer wardrobe. Tanks, shorts, and sandals to compliment the tan skin and bleached hair that accompanies the season change. Summer is such a feel good time of the year. Blaring Sublime with the windows rolled down, pool parties with your closet friends, late nights that turn into early mornings, and as many trips and adventures that you can possibly squeeze into three short months to liberate that free spirit of yours. Summer is good for the soul, and I plan to fit all of these things in to my break. That definitely includes sister-sister dates to Atlanta and eating at our favorite dive. And what better thing to wear than my new Tequila Sunrise tank from Dainty Lion?? (everyone loves a good insta giveaway, right?) This tank embodies the spirit of summer, and I know I will get some good wear out of it over the next few months. MATE the label has some of the coolest graphic tees and tanks if you're looking for your own summer staple. Be sure to check out Dainty Lion on instagram and maybe you'll just win your own Tequila Sunrise!

Chelly Day 1

In honor of all of the recently announced music festival lineups, especially Coachella, it's time to reminisce on one of the hottest, fastest, most exhausting, and greatest weekends of my life.

Haim

A$AP Ferg

A$AP Ferg

Bastille

Ellie Goulding

I get this indescribable feeling when I think back on this weekend. I'm not sure if I could even put this trip into words… and Day 1 was nothing short of amazing. It was the perfect kickoff to the most incredible weekend. A$AP Ferg. Haim. Bastille. Grouplove. Ellie Goulding. Outkast. Never in my wildest dreams would I expect myself to be in the presence of all these insane artists in just one day. Apart from the music, the festival itself was so cool. The food, exhibits, camp grounds, tents- there was always something to explore. And the sunsets every night?...breathtaking. I'm near convinced that I will never see a more beautiful sunset than the ones at the Polo Fields of Indio, CA. These pictures do not do Day 1 justice, but at least they are fun to look at.
I will never forget the moment dancing to Tongue Tied at Grouplove's show with my best friends or singing our lungs out to Anything Could Happen at Ellie Goulding's show under the setting golden sun. Those specific memories will forever be instilled in my heart, and I'm thankful for that.

Take Time

It is no surprise that almost everyone's primary intention of going to the beach is to lay out, jump in the water, soak up the sun and work on that tan. However, you shouldn't totally rule out beach trips during the colder months, for this is the best time to witness some of the prettiest sunrises and sunsets, try out new restaurants, and truly enjoy the beauty and tranquility of where the sand meets the shore. For some added fun, bring your pup (or all four of them) down to the sand to watch them roll around and use all their strength to not touch the water. That's always a good laugh!
Just being able to sit… not worry about sunscreen or towels or finding a spot on the beach, but just being able to take in God's wonderful creation is so peaceful. I love using my beach time to read, think, or just meditate and appreciate this life. While the coast may be my favorite spot to do this, you can create your own serenity anywhere. Try taking some time out of your day to just sit- whether it be in your room with only some lamps and light music on, or outside surrounded by fresh air and the sound of the wind- take time to enjoy this wonderful life we have been given the opportunity to live.
